Christmas Jumper Day

Friday 18th December is Christmas Jumper Day and the staff in our Wroxham stores and office were happy to pull on a festive knit to help raise money for charity. Money raised will go to Text Santa, ITV's annual fundraising appeal that this year is distributing 100% of the funds raised equally amongst Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish® UK, and Save the Children, going directly to support vital work both in the UK and abroad.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENING

Roys Christmas Shopping Evening was held on Wednesday 4th November as a special event for pre-registered guests to get into the Christmas spirit and some great deals too! On arrival guests received a complimentary drink, goody bag and a spread of Christmas treats to help get into the festive mood.

A number of representatives from big brands were in store for shoppers to meet and ask advice about some of their favourite products as well as demonstrations of some too. Christine Wallace from the Great British Bake Off was demonstrating Christmas icing techniques on gingerbread men and shortbread angels, and customers also had a go too and representatives from Swift decorations demonstrated how to decorate garlands with ribbons and other decorations.

The culmination of the evening was the charity raffle, raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Over £1000 pounds worth of prizes were available to be won and there were many happy winners.

Norwich Food Bank

Roys of Wroxham have recently donated 160 bottles of shampoo to Norwich Food Bank after being approached by Hannah Worsley- Project Manager.

Norwich foodbank supports local individuals and families who find themselves on the edge of disaster through the provision of emergency food supplies. These supplies take the form of nutritionally balanced emergency foodboxes to cover an individual or family’s basic needs for 72 hours: the critical time gap before the Social Services safety net “kicks in.” Other products such as toiletries can give the recipient extra confidence and a higher sense of well being.

Carrier Bag Charging

On Monday 5th October 2015 carrier bag charging began in England, similar to the charging already in place in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland.

Roys, like other large retailers, are now required by law to charge a minimum of 5p for every carrier bag used by a customer. Proceeds generated from sales of the bags will be given to good causes, as set out by Defra (Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs). It's all part of the government's drive to reduce waste.

Roys is pleased to announce that all proceeds generated by 5p carrier bag sales will be donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance team are a 365 day-a-year lifesaving service working across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Since the charity launch in 2000, the dedicated, highly skilled medical crews on their specially equipped helicopters have helped to save the lives of hundreds of people unfortunate enough to be involved in accidents or medical emergencies available in this region.
